The College is overseen by a Board of Governors, consisting of 18 people from a variety of backgrounds, including people from business and the community, staff and students. The role of the Board of Governors is to agree the strategic direction of the College, setting objectives and monitoring results, and supporting the College to provide a high quality and effective learning experience. Governors are not involved in the day-to-day management and running of the College.
There are two Student Governors on the Board whose role is to use their experience and insight as a student of the College to inform the strategic decision making process. Although Student Governors are nominated and elected by students, they are not responsible for canvassing opinions or taking up issues on behalf of students as this is the responsibility of the Student Council. The contribution of Student Governors at Board level is very valuable as they have first-hand knowledge of the student experience at the College.
